Spring is Coming...

Peter Tittler, Steve Rood Goldman and Howard Edelman get together every few months to fix things around the temple.  This month it was lights and ballast issues, but it is an endless punch list!  Are there any other handy folks out there who would like to be part of Buildings and Grounds? It's fun.  Call Steve Rood Goldman.

Former student Sydney Hoffman came to a recent service to give a talk about her trip to Israel with six Jewish and six Catholic 16 year olds!  If you think you might be interested in this special program, ask Rabbi Goodman for details. She said that it changed her life and gave her a new appreciation for her Religion.

I finally got the chance to experience a Seven Eleven Sunday!  Cantor Lavranchuk and I led 16 deserving Juniors and Seniors for a treat to the local 711 as a reward for completion of eight chapters of their text book.

The students were quite well behaved.  I let several grateful patrons of the store cut ahead in line, and one lady said, Oh, a Sunday school, that is nice.  Even during Lent?  I confided that we were a Jewish Sunday school.  Laughter.

Winter came back in mid March...this ice formation was on the bushes outside the Social Hall on the night of our Purim Pizza Party and Megillah reading!

Shaloch Manot baskets!  Sandra Greico, Robyn Clark nd Deborah Zuckerman were organizing the Purim party with .Sisterhood,  creating the raffle prizes and these Shaloch Manot baskets for the holiday. Everyone loves the raffles after the Megillah reading

See if you can guess Deb Zuck's costume. It was clever.

Great costumes, everyone!  I think I've seen that cow before, though.

Three brothers pose in their costumes. So cute!

What an adorable Doctor! She brought along her own patient and blood supply...

A great shot of two wonderful women! Elaine Kreisberg and Linda Henry Goodman.

No, not Woody. Not Indiana Jones...just a cowboy.

We have some cute kids in this Congregation!

A unicorn, a cat and an elephant walked into a Purim party...

Two almost Bat Mitzvah girls pose as cats together.

These siblings always get together for a great photo.  What adorable kids!

This is an honor!

We had a full house for the Megillah reading!

The Purim Carnival was a huge success, too.  Here, a little brother photo bombs the Coke and Pepsi game.

We thank all the adult helpers, including Andrea Krupen, Michael Krupen ( former student in the Religious school and current Board Member) and Mark Temares.

We got a few new games, including this real Wheel of fortune that really spins and clicks.  The Seniors and Confirmation students helped run the games.

This child actually tossed a ringer and won some prize tickets!

The Donut on a string game is the most fun every year.

Mrs. K is our favorite adult helper!

Good old Mario Cart N64... it has been popular in spite of being very vintage!

Lorin and Jake DeRosa provided us with the popular balloon pop once again this year.

Love this little face filled with sugar donut sugar.

The prize table leftovers with two Confirmation students and Robyn Clark and Lorin DeRosa.  It looks like a plague of locusts came through (wrong holiday reference)!

This old game was built by my father in law for my son Matt to have his own Carnival...about 25 years ago. We love hauling it out to use each year.  The Rabbi's son, Phil Goodman, named it the Thing in the Thing game.

This Pokerino game is another oldie-but-goodie.  The nails may be a little rusty but it works!

As we were cleaning up the Carnival stuff (Thank you Alan Schoenfeld, Howard Edelman, Peter Tittler, Deborah Zukerman, Andrea Krupen, Michael Krupen) Sophie White, the doggie, came and visited, much to the delight of the remaining children. She last made a visit to our school at the Lag B Omer games in May. I guess we have a mascot.

We hope Spring makes a true appearance next week.  In the meantime, the next holiday coming up is Pesach, featuring the Religious School's Model Seder and the Temple Second Night Seder.  Details will be forthcoming, so stay tuned!
